Amy Porter : Song Recital

Amy is about to begin her third year at Durham University, where she studies Music and holds a Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarship for the Arts. She is a former Music and Drama Scholar of Dean Close School, Cheltenham and sings with the Durham University Chamber Choir. In May this year she sang with the award-winning and internationally renowned chamber choir Tenebrae in Perth under the direction of Nigel Short. Amy enjoys both solo and ensemble work and appears frequently as a soloist in concerts, both in Durham and Gloucestershire and, recently, in the South of France. Amy greatly enjoys acting, and is developing a particular love of opera at Durham where she is a member of the Durham Opera Ensemble. She was delighted to play Hermia in their production of Benjamin Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Durham’s Gala Theatre in 2017 and Second Lady in Mozart’s The Magic Flute in 2018. Amy is part of the prestigious Samling Young Artists’ programme, performing as one of the soloists in their concert at the Sage, Gateshead in 2017.

We are delighted to announce our upcoming event

Abstract 7 at Chapel Arts, Cheltenham

Preview - Wednesday 4th July, 6.30pm to 8pm. The exhibition will run from the 4th to the 28th July 2018.

This The Abstract 7 are a group of five painters one potter and one sculptor; all of whom favour the modernist’s approach and a philosophy of abstraction that echoes the appreciation of the New York abstract expressionists.

For this group abstraction is a means of enlightenment, a kind of magic that reveals images of inner feelings beyond thought or mind. The work is not to be reasoned with or necessarily understood. It is to be experienced and meditated upon.

We are delighted to be hosting a series of concerts and composer academies as part of Cheltenham Music Festival, which runs from 30 June – 15 July. For availability and booking, contact the box office 01242 850270

This is the last of our Spring/Summer shows, Chapel Arts will be closed for August but will re-open for the Autumn/Winter shows on 5th September, where we will have exhibitions from Jane Lampard & Michael Long, The Gloucestershire Print Co-operative and Cheltenham artist Robert Goldsmith.

4th to the 28th July 2018
