Violinist, John Pearce, is an internationally renowned jazz and classical musician. He has performed in venues throughout the world, closer to home at the Royal Albert Hall, on radio and television, and has given world premières of works by composers such as Sir Richard Rodney Bennett. As a soloist, he has performed concertos by Bach, Bruch, Beethoven and Brahms and has given duo recitals with pianist and composer Motoki Hirai. His artistry and passion come to the fore in his dazzling jazz performances. “He extracts a gloriously heart-warming quality from his instrument, playing with the utmost tenderness” (The Guardian). “John Pearce soloed ecstatically … furiously inventive throughout” (JazzWise). His latest album with jazz pianist, David Newton, is receiving outstanding acclaim. On piano this evening, John will be joined by the ebullient Alex Steele, well known for his passionate, reflective, and energetic performances. Very special duo performance!

About Jazz at the Chapel

We are delighted to launch a brand-new jazz programme at Chapel Arts. Once each month, we will showcase the best of international jazz talent, featuring musicians from the UK, Europe, USA and beyond. In the unique acoustic space of Chapel Arts, we are thrilled to present a series of duo jazz performances. For our first programme, our performances will be convened and hosted by local jazz pianists, Alex Steele and Tommy Scott. They will appear at the piano to perform alongside a fantastic array of international jazz guests.
