Jean Toussaint is the renowned expat US saxophonist, who first came to prominence as a member of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers in the 1980’s. With Art Blakey, Jean toured and recorded with jazz greats Mulgrew Miller, Terence Blanchard, Wallace Roney, Kenny Garrett, and many more. In New York, Jean played with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Elvin Jones, Bobby Hutcherson, and Freddie Hubbard. Since that time, Jean has moved on to achieve many musical accolades, as an international performer, composer and educator. We are incredibly delighted that Jean will be appearing as the first guest for our jazz programme at Chapel Arts. Jean will be joined by incredible pianist, Tommy Scott. Don’t miss this performance!
About Jazz at the Chapel
We are delighted to launch a brand-new jazz programme at Chapel Arts. Once each month, we will showcase the best of international jazz talent, featuring musicians from the UK, Europe, USA and beyond. In the unique acoustic space of Chapel Arts, we are thrilled to present a series of duo jazz performances. For our first programme, our performances will be convened and hosted by local jazz pianists, Alex Steele and Tommy Scott. They will appear at the piano to perform alongside a fantastic array of international jazz guests.
